Bukoto

Bukoto is one of the popular suburbs in Kampala city. 

It is approximately 7 kms from Kampala city centre. It is bordered by Kisaasi to the north, Kigoowa to the north-east, Ntinda to the east, Naguru to the south-east, Kololo to the south, Kamwokya to the west, and Kyebando to the north-west.

Renowned for its attraction to the middle class urban dwellers with a number of offices and business centres. It is still developing with a mix of high-end and low-end residential properties. Small upcoming businesses and startups are also synonocommon in this area owing to its relatively cheaper rental costs in relation to its proximity to the CBD.

There are various apartments and houses for rent and sale in Bukoto. 

Traffic  

A lot of the traffic going to the CBD from other upcoming suburbs passes through Bukoto and this makes it a traffic jam hub during peak rush hours. Most of the amenities are within walking distance for the residents of Bukoto hence living there should be a mostly convenient experience. 

There are several taxis and boda bodas passing through this area at most times of the day hence quick access to public means is not an issue here. 

Environment

One gets a mixed feeling strolling through Bukoto as it appears like a blend of both urban and semi-urban infrastructure. Most of the main streets have recently been tarmacked however most are still narrow and the in-roads still have a good portion without tarmac.

There is free interaction among the residents in this area making it a very hospitable environment for both locals and foreigners, unlike some of the other central areas where there is a sense of exclusivity. This is also a popular area among the young expatriate community working with NGOs and embassies. Overall, Bukoto is relatively busy but feels secure. 

Lifestyle

The Kabira Country Club is a renowned leisure facility offering both accommodation, dining and health club services. There are also a few mid-size supermarkets like Best buy, Kenjoy and others that will cater for the average family shopper’s needs.

There are a number of local bars and restaurants in this area like the 400 bar, that provide the best of the traditional Ugandan cuisine. The main Bukoto-Kisasi road is generally vibrant and lively till late in the night.

Bukoto is also a few minutes away from the popular Acacia mall and Lugogo mall, making it an ideal location for most property hunters to settle. 

Schools

The area has a number of small schools, but most notably, it is home to the famous Kabira International School of Uganda(KISU).

Hospitals & Clinics

There are a number of hospitals and clinics including; Women’s hospital, UMC Victoria Hospital,, Kaserena children hospital Bukoto and Abba Pharmacy Bukoto.
